Craigslist find! Let's hit the road...

Well, this all started when my dad came across a steal on craigslist. He'd just recently bought a buggy of his own, and a few frames for parts and such, so he wasn't really in need of another. He decided to fill me in on the find and see if I was interested in a new project. I was on board pretty quickly!

So... Where do we meet this guy?


WHAT DO YOU MEAN ARIZONA?!?!
16 hours later... we were there.
6 hours later... we were headed back home!
FUN weekend for sure!

Let's see what we got here!

There she is! This is the foundation of my first project!

Everything but the frame is all VW Beetle. The front end is a ball joint style from an early standard beetle, and everything else is from a 74 Super Beetle! IRS rear suspension. 1600cc engine, but it's been bored out. I'm not 100% but the bore may have made it a 1776cc. I've yet to take any accurate measurements!

The front wheels are a pretty desirable style I've heard, and the rears are 12" wide "5V Solids" from Douglas. They have "1450 Desert Trak" tires mounted on them.

This is how it was when I first got it in April of 2011! I was pretty damn happy with this craigslist find. Quality parts, RUNNING, and plenty to learn about. A mere $1500!!!, $400 in gas, and some great memories CRAMMED into about 48 hours.
